The center is serving a record number of people. In 2017 2,000 people came to the center in over 20,000 visits. The programs have jumped from 160 to over 200. Each month the center receives approximately 2,400 visits. Programs are offered free of charge in our home-like setting made possible through the generous support of individuals like you, corporation grants & foundations and through year-round special fundraising events. They do not receive any financial support through federal or state government funding, insurance nor any national cancer organizations.

Cancer has touched all of us wether it is someone we know or has impacted our own personal journey. The passion of Climb Against Cancer is to help those touched by cancer or a loved one who is fighting against it by raising funds to assist in providing support services. We raise these funds through climbing.

Why through climbing?

Why climb for a cause? In my personal experience I have found a correlation between daily life experiences and climbing. As in life there are always conflicts, beauty, risks and rewards, but through hard work, faith and persistence anyone can achieve their dreams.

The ever sought after answer to “why we climb” does not hold a solitary reply. Climbing is seen to provide no benefits and is laden with injury and death. But to those who climb discover deeper meaning within themselves through solitude and time in the mountains which forms a unique connection with something bigger. The motivation to choose a lifestyle against the status quo and the approval from the masses is intrinsically rooted in such a question.

Among one personal desire to climb is the humanitarian instinct to help others. I’ve discovered that climbing and adventuring is a way for people to celebrate living their lives to the fullest. Climb Against Cancer connects that sense of adventure by helping those with cancer live a more fulfilling life.
